Portraits are always interesting and Francesa
makes them more so by placing her paintings of
people in surprising poses. It is the brush work that

also excites the viewer as they are applied in swift
succession to form a dynamic image.
The image which she entitled ‘Rainy Eyes’ is a
particular favourite of mine (above). The simple

positioning of the torso and the slight turn of the
head looks at the viewer with a question. It’s a
look that one can often receive whilst in a bar in a
strange city. It’s a sort of ‘”what are you looking at

me for” question.
The other works are as intriguing as ‘rainy eyes’.
The artist has an obvious talent and I really look
forward to viewing more of her work both in real life

and online.
