This is what I’m looking
at when I step back
from the canvas. The grid
and drawing are laid down
in charcoal and I’m ready
to paint.

My process will begin by filling large sections of the painting, and I start with a washed out,
thin layer of my darkest areas, pushing for a two-value understanding of the composition.
