STAGE 5
Bolducs brillants, pastel,
22 x 22" (56 x 56 cm)
The painting is now
finished. It took me
20 hours to bring it to
completion spread over a
period of five days.
I like to paint two hours
in the morning and two
to three hours in the
afternoon. The rest of
the time is dedicated
to logistic chores like
framing, preparation of
upcoming exhibitions,
marketing and contacts
with fellow artists
through Facebook.
I always listen to
classical music or
jazz while painting.
I suspect that a little
bit of Mozart’s or
John Coltrane’s music
pervades my work.
I do not spray fixative on
the painting because the
colors slightly change
due to a chemical
reaction. I prefer to
frame the pastel with
glass though it makes
the entire painting
somewhat heavy.
