artist: Bruce Lyons artist: Anna Thomas
In the tradition of Rousseau and Chagall Anna follows a naive style. She leans towards the romantic and
beautiful things in life. Love, nature and harmony as far as subject matter is concerned. Her paintings are
full of details that takes time to discover.
Her colour palette is obviously instinctive and yet there is a conceptual control that is evident. The sensation
the work generates is generally happiness and in these two examples you can see why Anna is well liked
by the artists community in the North West of England. I chatted with her recently on the telephone where
we discussed the direction that Art was taking, and how the established galleries and institutions could
develop with the ground breaking thinking of a new generation of visual artists. Anna is a member of MAFA
and is on the advisary board. She is a talented and intelligent artist.
