Jane Walker’s work brings together different perspectives
on the urban environment, creating many small images
which are glued and layered together. Many of the
materials including paper that she uses are fairly transparent,
particularly the Japanese paper. Sometimes Walker uses
glues and media to alter the transparency of paper. Most
of my fi nished work is in portrait format, but the images are
long thin landscapes. This is an ongoing theme, they began
as chemical experiments recording the colour changes and
interactions of pigments on Japanese paper.
The Seine series is made up of 11 small watercolours of the
same landscape. The view is of Paris and the Seine. The
painted acrylic strip on the right is there to bind the horizontal
 images together.
