The main theme explored in Anna Didik’s paintings is landscape. She paints its fragments and reduces the details down to basic forms. The paintings
are a series of fragments of Iceland's landscape, captured and transferred onto the canvas.
Didik’s landscapes can also be seen as a cross section showing layers of an object as if looked at under a microscope. Perhaps this is a nod towards
her previous experience as a Fine Art Restorer, wherein she examined Master paintings in detail.
Didik uses some structural elements to create an atmosphere of harmony or tension in her artwork. She does however try to balance this with more
intuitive mark making and lets unstructured expression emerge through the process too. For this reason, her paintings are not created in an instant,
but are the result of exploring and searching.
