Paula Kemp

Paula is a contemporary artist known for capturing the essence of nature through vibrant and ethereal
abstract landscapes. Based in rural Staffordshire, she predominantly works with oil and cold wax, exploring the
intricate relationships between color, form, and emotion. A self-taught artist, Paula has worked professionally
since 2020. In this time, she has sold work internationally, exhibited in London, and participated in local
galleries and festivals. She has had the honor of receiving the people’s vote for her favorite artist at several
events. Paula approaches her work with mindfulness, hoping that viewers engage and connect with her art on
a personal level. Her creative process is characterized by intuitive experimentation, where each stroke of paint
reveals new layers and meanings. She focuses not on the result but on allowing the artwork to evolve naturally,
free from constraints. The mark-making and process guide the direction of her work, leading to more
considered composition and color at later stages. Paula continues to explore new dimensions in her
landscapes, embarking on an ongoing journey as an artist.

‘’As an artist my work explores the intersection of nature, the sky, the seasons, and the landscape, evoking the viewer’s
emotions, creating a connection or awakening a memory. Working predominantly with oil and cold wax, I explore the
interplay between color, abstraction, and the natural world.
My creative process involves painting intuitively, deliberately veering away from the pursuit of perfection. Instead, I
embrace the freedom of applying paint in ways that evoke the shifting qualities of light and atmosphere. This freedom
fosters a dialogue between my materials and my creative vision, leading to unexpected discoveries and moments of clarity
within the abstract. My ultimate goal is for the viewer to be immersed in my work, feel energy from it, and for the painting
to reveal another element with each encounter.’’
