Mark Rowney

Mark Rowney was born in 1962, amongst the hayfields and moors of Northern England. He was educated at St
Martins School of Art, London, and went on to work for many publishers, creating illustrated artwork for
Penguin Books, the Radio Times, Homes and Gardens, and various BBC publications. He moved to New York
and lived in very small apartments, producing work for the New York Times, Time Magazine, and Travel and
             Leisure.
He carves to plant trees, paints to feed birds, and draws to grow flowers, nurturing sustenance for bees.
Through sculpture and painting, he expresses his deep love for the natural world surrounding his home in the
high hills of County Durham—a damp but heavenly retreat. He refrains from judging his work by traditional
artistic standards, focusing instead on creating pieces that bring him personal satisfaction. However, he finds
immense joy when others resonate positively with his efforts.
