Paul McCloskey
Paul is a landscape abstract artist working from his studio in Wexford, Ireland.
His work is consistently centred on nature. Recently he has painted a series of
work which he has entitled: Meabhraiocht. This is an Irish (language) word which
translated indicates consciousness & essential thought linked to intelligence.
The title is intriguing when it comes to creating a painting. Paul tends to work
smaller than many serious arlists, however he more than compensates a smaller
size canvas with his sense of impact of colour and the forms he translates from his
environment. The artist is a sincere and authentic painter and offers an alternate
imagery. Oscar Wild once said "beware of being too modem, as one becomes old
fashioned too soon.· And Paul seems to strike a line between traditional Irish values
and up to date methodologies in painting technique.
