Victoria Collins’ work draws inspiration from natural
forms and uses an approach that is a contemporary
mix of industrial design, craft and fi ne art to explore
feelings and senses that cannot be explained
          with words.

Collins has a passion for the exploration of materials
as a voice within the creative process. The work
showcases the beauty and quality of her chosen
materials, allowing her to draw out the forms that
          lie within the material.

Untitled forms the fi rst part of a series of sample
sculptures exploring the ease and accessibility
of new digital technologies, such as 3D printing,
available to the general public. The design was
          created digitally using free 3D modelling software;
Blender, Netfabb and consumer 3D printing service
          i.materilise.com and printed in polyamide.

The focus of Eco Spheres was mainly for Collins to
learn new skills in metal casting rather than sending
the work off to a foundry for casting. The purpose
of the spheres is to sustain plant life with minimal
interference from people. They are designed to be
delicate, small, inverted worlds, where the precious
minerals are on the outside and the life is on the
inside, with the glass acting as an a atmosphere
keeping everything alive by sealing it off from the
          outside world.
