Transforming Tudor-era female portraits into ceramic vases, this series of works reimagines elaborate garments as vessels and uses textiles or rubber balls to
represent the female body. In this process, I have humorously objectified the women in the portraits. The appearance of the sculptures is a fusion of a vase
and a bust. The core intention behind my work is to reconsider the interaction between gender, history, and modern society. The portrayal of women during the
Tudor period has continuity with today’s societal expectations of female appearance and identity. By contrasting history with the present, my work explores
the evolution of gender norms. Additionally, the series also involves the transformation of the traditional concept of fine art into ‘decorative art’, reflecting a
questioning of the notion of hierarchy in art.
